Pre-School

We provide a loving Christian academic environment for children ages 2 through 5. Our preschool program’s goal is for children to develop socially, emotionally, physically and intellectually in a Christian environment.

The two year old classes learn through play. They participate in a structured daily schedule that includes free play, teacher directed activities, outdoor or large muscle indoor play, and a snack.

The three year old classes are introduced to numbers, the alphabet, colors and shapes. They also learn through play. Their daily schedule is structured with a balance of teacher directed activities, free play, group play, outdoor or large muscle indoor play and a snack.

The four year old classes are preparing for kindergarten. The children learn the alphabet, initial consonant sounds, numbers, name recognition, their addresses and phone numbers. Their daily schedule is structured with more time being spent in teacher directed activities (like circle time) and group imaginative play. They also have outdoor or large muscle play and a snack.

We offer a lunch bunch option for 4 year olds. Once a week, the children either stay for an hour after the morning class or arrive an hour early for the afternoon class and have lunch and an enrichment class. Currently we are offering Spanish as the lunch option. Lunch is supervised by a staff member and then a Spanish teacher conducts a thirty minute lesson.

YOUR DONATIONS ARE GREATLY APPRECIATED

Thank you so much for all of the donations generously sent in this school year. I always appreciate everything parents donate. I am in need of snack items ( cheese cubes and Ritz or saltine crackers, fruit snacks, applesauce cups, pudding cups, fruit cups, teddy grahams, graham crackers, Rold Gold pretzels, flavored rice cakes). Anything you can donate is greatly appreciated.

CTK preschool will be offering conferences for all students during the month of March. All conferences will take place March 21st and 22nd. Your child’s teacher will be doing evaluations of all students during February and March. Teachers will post signup sheets the end of February so that you may choose your conference time. Thank you for your cooperation.

SPEECH/LANGUAGE SCREENING

Kristen Russ, a certified Speech-Language pathologist, will be conducting speech and language screenings on March 21st and 22nd. A permission form will be sent home the first week in March. If you would like Kristen to screen your child, please fill out the form and return it with the $15.00 fee by Friday, March 16th. Kristen screens each child individually and you will receive the results the following week. Since the school will be closed for conferences during those two days, you can choose either day to bring your child. Kristen will be pleased to arrange a time so that you won’t have to wait. Just make a note on the permission form.

GREETINGS FROM THE 4’s

Talking with your children about snow in January seemed a little odd because we had no snow on the ground this year. However, the preschoolers still enjoyed our “snow activities”. Ask your child about painting with an orange and a potato! Are you hearing any songs about snowmen? Our goal continues to be partnering with you to give your little ones the skills they need to be ready for kindergarten. We appreciate any practice you give at home because it is such a great reinforcement. Please know we are always available if you have any questions. The concept of left and right has been a challenge this month, but we will continue practicing, and it is very easy to reinforce at home in everyday life.

February will be full of exciting activities! Please remember Pajama Day on Friday, February 3. We know your child will love wearing his favorite jammies to school. Our Valentine Party will be on Monday, February 13, and a sign-up sheet will be posted early in the month. Each student is asked to bring a valentine for everyone. We have 11 students total in the class, and it is not necessary to address each valentine. Simply have your child sign his name to the cards. In conjunction with our community helpers unit, we will have a visit from a fireman on the 22nd. The preschoolers are always enthralled with his gear. A discussion of 911 will be included at this time so you may choose to continue this at home to further help your child understand the meaning of “emergency”. Please know simply dialing the number for fun will be very strongly discouraged because we do not want you to receive any unwanted visits from a policeman! The highlighted letters for the month will include P-T, and the numbers will be 15-19. Other skills the children will be exposed to are counting by 10’s, graphing, ordering by size, tracing, and comparing. Some of the fun crafts planned involve groundhogs, polar bears, quail, and even a “love bug”.

We appreciate how many of you share the calendar with your students which helps them to be excited about the daily activities. Many hands-on activities occur each day to help your child remember new concepts and reinforce the old ones. It is only appropriate that our character quality for the month is love. Our prayer is that your child will not only feel loved by his/her teachers but also recognize God’s very sacrificial love for each one of us.

Looking forward to another wonderful month!

Love,

Mrs. Williams and Mrs. Seeley

GREETINGS FROM THE 3’S

January went fast and the children are "back in the swing of things". They came back from Christmas Vacation ready to learn and play and jumped right back into our routine. They have had a great time with the Cocoa Shop making cocoa with "marshmallows".

February will be a very busy month for the 3's. We'll be celebrating Groundhogs Day and Valentine's Day. On Tuesday, Feb. 14th we will have our Valentine Party. We will have a special treat and exchange Valentine’s. The rest of the month will be filled with Community Helpers. We will have a few visitors which will include a fireman and the librarian! At the end of the month we will talk about our 5 senses and healthy eating habits. Throughout the month we will be learning to recognize our last names and the letters O, P, Q, R, & S.

Mrs. Fulton and Mrs. Mere

GREETINGS FROM MMO

During the month of January we have been talking about nursery rhymes such as Pat-a-Cake; Three Little Kittens and Teddy Bear Turn Around. These are always such fun to do with the children! We have also talked about the character quality of obedience – of course all the children are perfect and there is no need to discuss that!! I had hoped to use the water table to do some experimenting with snow but Mother Nature did not cooperate with us! Maybe in February we will have some snow.

During February we will of course talk about love and hearts. Our character quality for the month will be kindness and our color for the month will be pink. We will also learn about Community Helpers including fire fighters; doctors and nurses; mailmen; and police officers.

I hope you have time to enjoy special moments with your child. I like to call these “heart pictures” – I have many tucked away in my heart from when my children were little and now with my grandchildren. I am also tucking away special “heart pictures” of your children. Take time this month to talk with your children about the greatest example of love – JESUS – “Love is of God.” I John 4:7

Love,

Mrs. Spradlin
